As a kid, every day I used to get up with a new dream every day and would tell my Mom what I will become when I would grow up. She used to hear me patiently and then with a smile, she would motivate me to work towards studying hard and perform well.
If I can recall correctly, I wanted to become:
A Dancer: I participated in many cultural and social activities in school and our township and I would prepare a dance every time. I had also enrolled myself for classical dance learning but had to quit the training after 3 years because of re-location and the pressure of higher studies.
Now I shake a leg at some family wedding or a party and the excitement stays up always.
A Painter: I was never very good in drawing and I really wanted to master this art. I could not become better, though. I used to scribble, doodle and make many drawings and never could I get satisfied.
Till today, I like buying colors, pencils, drawing books and diaries which make me happy.
A Time-traveller: I used to read a lot of books as a child and the fairy stories fascinated me always. I wanted to travel the time and go back and live in that beautiful world for once.
Now, I wish I could just go back and relive those carefree childhood days where I felt protected in the family cocoon.
A Driver: Whenever I had to go to a friend’s place or to the market, I was taken by my Dad. And this way I was totally dependent on him. When sometimes, he wasn’t available, peeved I used to imagine myself becoming a driver.
Today when I am eligible for driving license by age, I still depend on my husband and cab services as I could not drive alone due to lack of confidence.
Coming to the reality, I am working in the corporate sector, since 5 years, after completing my management studies and I am very happy with my present job. I also started pursuing writing (via blogging) and I’m loving it.
But on some days, I feel like becoming a child again and exploring some other passion.
What did you want to do when you were a kid? Please share and relive those memories.

As a child, we all want to be something or the other and we all have fond memories of these. I am reliving these moments through my girls who also plan to be something different every day 🙂

I am so glad to read the professions you wanted to be as a child. There were so many things I wanted to be, bus driver, accountant, lawyer, politician, film actor…..I wanted to be an actor by destiny not on my side. I turned out to be a journalist…hehe

It would be so much fun to be a time traveler! I guess writing allows us to do so, through imagination. I’m glad you’re enjoying your current job x

Loved this…Isn’t it amazing how there’s no limit to a child’s dreams? If we could only retain that wide-eyed wonder and openess…
